Habitada (Inhabited) is a solo show of the argentinian artist Gabriela Golder (www.gabrielagolder.com). In the show we presented: a videoinstallation of 2005 Diáspora (Diaspora) that dealt on subjects in relation to the concept of care crisis; a new installation titled Dolor (Pain). Diáspora is the second piece in the show: a performance recorded in a sequence shot in real time. We observe the artist herself crawling in an empty room. Barefooted, on her knees, and with great effort, she drags her body and licks the floor. The action is harsh and provokes several questions in the viewer?s mind but the title gives us a hint: "Diaspora" reminds us once again of exile and inmigration. This video was first presented at the Buenos Aires Marine “Chop Shop”: the place of arrival for immigrants coming from Europe in the late 19th century. Now, as Gabriela says, a different kind of immigrant arrives at this point of entry: Peruvian, Bolivian... all of them leaving everything behind to become the labor force of the host country, so often related to household care, just as the performance suggests. Habitada (Inhabited) is part of a major curatorial Project called Care Crisis. This project is not an exhibition of a unitary nature but rather functions as a common research topic which will be materializad under different formats in different cities. The first one is Habitada, a solo show by argentinian artist Gabriela Golder
